Why you've every reason to eat as much as you like on this day: Bengali New Year 1433 - শুভ নববর্ষ and শুভ পয়লা বৈশাখ!

There’s something so tender about the first morning of Poila Boishakh (পয়লা বৈশাখ) 1433. The air feels softer, the light a little kinder, and our hearts quietly open to new beginnings. Shubho Noboborsho, dear one.

In a bustling city of Kolkata, when it's the New Year, everything seems to as if glow with it's rich history, elegant tales behind bridges behind sunsets and the ever cherishing memories that holds on to us and that we hold on to. Thankful to the world. Thankful to West Bengal. Thankful to Kolkata.
Special thanks to - ELEGANT history, the awe-striking sunset :)

Thank you for all these years supporting this page and ever-motivated initiative, without you guys, this page would have been NOTHING.

Thank you, my family of readers!

On this gentle day, let the table become a quiet embrace. The golden ilish (ইলিশ), warm rice, fragrant dal, and that first sweet spoonful of mishti doi (মিষ্টি দই). They’re not just food. They’re memories. Wrapped with love, served in flavour, little rituals of love passed down through generations. It feels so বাঙালিয়ানা (Bangaliana) to reach for them, to let your heart and your hunger sit together with comfort wrapped in love and care of your loved ones.

Craving is not a flaw (as some of the blog posts advice), it’s the soft voice of life saying, “You belong here. You are allowed to enjoy.” But it is our responsibility that we accept that form of love that is truly caring and comforting without harming, like having the healthiest foods.

And somehow, these same dishes hold us with care. Your body knows what it needs, and today it meets your joy halfway.

So sit, breathe, and eat slowly. Laugh with the people you love. Let this meal be a small, warm promise to yourself, that this year you will be as kind to your own heart as you are to others.

Shubho Poila Boishakh. May your plate, and your year, be full of comfort. If I never thanked you for taking out your time, I must let you know, I am beyond grateful to you.
